Business Ownership
I always liked the idea of business ownership.
I’m musical, I’m administrative, and I’m an accountant at heart.
So, naturally, the first thing I built was a music-rights administration company.
I’d be lying if I said it was easy, if people weren’t difficult, or if OWNING was the same as RUNNING a business.
Very few will ever understand the undertaking—the challenges and the glories.
If you are an entrepreneur or want to be a business owner, here is one piece of advice I will give:
Team up with the best legal counsel, CPA, and tax strategists. Learn about assets and liabilities. Learn your game very well and hold your cards close. Also, learn what it means to MAINTAIN an entity such that you MAINTAIN your corporate veil.
It’s easy to start an entity, but it’s wise and beneficial (and harder) to maintain a healthy, growing machine.
Once you learn the ropes and surround yourself with the best on all fronts, you can more easily go far and wide and step into new territory.
